Who We Are?

About Us

Founded in 1981 by Betty and Gene Whitehead, B&G Transportation started as a school bus company in Hobbs, New Mexico. At the time, B&G focused primarily on transporting students within the Hobbs school district along with other athletic and student activities with the region.
In 2000, Mike Whitehead, the son of Betty and Gene Whitehead, took over the ownership and operations of B&G along with his wife, Molly Whitehead. Wanting to venture beyond Hobbs,
Mike and Molly launched M&M Tours in 2001, the first sister company to B&G. M&M Tours focused on motor coaches and was the first company to offer tours out of Hobbs to destinations such as the Albuquerque Ballon Fiesta, Las Vegas, Disneyland, and other locations within the continental United States.
On December 31st, 2017, Luisa Ruiz, a longtime employee of B&G Transportation since 1988, became a partner alongside the Whitehead family. Three years later on January 1st, 2020, B&G
Transportation Inc. and M&M Tours was officially sold to Luisa and James Ruiz. Keeping in the tradition of being a family driven small business, their children (James, Nicole, and Jami) joined the company and serve as officers.

WHO WE ARE

I’m Luisa Loredo Ruiz and I’m the owner and President of B&G Transportation and M&M Coaches.

I started with B&G as a school bus driver in 1989. It was a great job for me to work since I had two small children (and one on the way) that were able to come with me to work.

As the years progressed, I added more responsibilities to my job when I became a school bus driving instructor (SBDI) in 1999 and a CDL examiner in 2001. In 2005, I became the safety and compliance coordinator which lead to me becoming operations manager in 2007.

I bought the company on January 1st, 2020 and intend to honor and expand upon the foundation and principles established by Betty & Gene Whitehead, the founding owners of B&G Transportation.

I’ve recently moved back to Hobbs from Dallas, TX and I’m glad to be back here in my hometown, working with my family here at B&G Transportation and M&M Coaches.”

“My name is Jami Ruiz! I am the general manager at B&G Transportation. I’m also a SBDI (School Bus Driver Instructor), and school bus driver as well. I have been around the transportation industry my whole life and greatly enjoy it. I love spending time with my family, friends, and my German Shepherd, Sam.”

“Hello, I’m James G. Ruiz, the Vice President of B&G Transportation and M&M Coaches. My other duties include me serving as the Maintenance Manager, SBDI (School Bus Driver Instructor), and Motor Coach and School Bus Driver.”

“My name is James M. Ruiz and I’m the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for B&G Transportation and M&M Coaches. My first job at B&G was detailing school buses and motor coaches as a teenager. I eventually became a school bus attendant until I left B&G to attend Texas Tech University in 2005. I officially returned to B&G at the beginning of 2020 and have been tasked in creating contemporary marketing content to reach our expanding client base within our community and beyond.”
